A New Milestone in Locally Produced Drone (UAV) Technology
A New Milestone in Locally Produced Drone (UAV) TechnologyPhnom Penh, 30 September 2026
The National Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation (NISTI) is advancing research and development (R&D) in the design and production of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), specifically Agri-Delivery, VTOL, and Fixed-Wing types, under the leadership of Dr. To Dara and Mr. Mork Tongly, together with the R&D team.
The project employs 3D printing, hand-layup composite techniques using carbon fiber and fiberglass, as well as sheet metal fabrication using aluminum and CNC laser cutting, to produce UAVs that are robust, lightweight, and highly efficient.
Through this work, NISTI contributes to strengthening local technological capabilities, supporting sustainable agriculture, and fostering industrial development and innovation in Cambodia.
