Research Collaboration with Partners to Advance the Development of Science, Technology, and InnovationRecently, H.E. Keo Socheat, Director General of the National Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation (NISTI), led a working team in a research collaboration with CamTech University under the theme “Science, Technology, and Sustainability in the China-Lancang Mekong Region: Innovations, Challenges, and Pathways.”
The research focused on “Adoption of Interrelated Farm Technologies in Cambodia: The Case of Improved Rice Varieties.”
The study examined the relationship between farmers’ decisions to adopt improved rice varieties and their use of chemical fertilizers, while identifying the key factors influencing the adoption of improved agricultural technologies.
Key Research Findings
The findings indicate that the adoption of improved rice varieties and the use of chemical fertilizers are complementary, generating synergistic benefits and contributing to increased agricultural productivity.
Key factors influencing technology adoption include access to irrigation, information sharing among farmers, educational attainment, access to mass media, and household financial resources.
This collaboration represents an important step toward strengthening research partnerships and institutional research capacity. It also provides opportunities for knowledge and experience exchange, fostering new knowledge and practical solutions that contribute to the sustainable development of science, technology, and innovation in Cambodia.
